Minnesota Vikings Land Hidden Gem in WR Tai Felton During 2025 NFL Draft
The Minnesota Vikings used their third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to select former Maryland wide receiver Tai Felton, a player who could quickly make an impact as a rookie.
Felton, one of the most dynamic wide receivers to come out of College Park, might just be one of the most underrated picks of the 2025 draft. Over his career at Maryland, Felton finished third in all-time receptions (172), fourth in receiving yards (2,207), and tied for fourth in receiving touchdowns (17). In his final season with the Terps in 2024, he led the Big Ten with 96 receptions and 1,124 yards.

Despite the Vikings already having star wideouts like Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, there’s optimism that Felton could rise to become the team’s WR3 in his first season.

Scouting reports on Felton highlight his excellent top-end speed and ability to make big plays thanks to his athleticism. However, there are concerns about his ability to handle the physicality of NFL cornerbacks and defensive backs, an area where he had some struggles during his time at Maryland. While he may not be viewed as a future No. 1 receiver at the professional level, Felton has the potential to be a strong No. 3 option who could thrive in Minnesota’s offensive system.
