Maryland OL Andre Roye Jr. Commits to Colorado Buffaloes
The Colorado Buffaloes have added another experienced offensive lineman to their roster, securing tackle Andre Roye Jr., a transfer from the Maryland Terrapins. This marks the 11th addition for Colorado since the spring transfer portal opened.
Roye, who spent his previous season at Maryland, made the decision to move from the Big Ten to the Big 12, committing to Colorado after a month in the transfer portal. He has two years of eligibility left.
The 6’6″, 295-pound lineman started seven games at left tackle for the Terrapins as a redshirt sophomore in 2023, allowing only one sack. He helped protect one of the Big Ten’s top passing offenses, ranked third in yards per game, and played a role in Maryland’s impressive 248-yard rushing performance against UConn, the team’s best rushing output since 2020.
Roye has been a reliable force on the Terps’ offensive line, especially on the blindside. A native of District Heights, Maryland, he appeared in nine games over the past two seasons after starting his college career at his home-state university.
Coming out of high school, Roye had several high-profile offers. The three-star recruit was ranked among the top 50 tackles in the 2022 class and originally committed to Penn State. He also drew interest from USC, Tennessee, Baylor, and other power programs.
Roye grew up just 30 minutes away from Colorado’s current left tackle, Jordan Seaton. If he doesn’t secure a starting role, Roye is expected to provide valuable depth, potentially serving as the backup behind Seaton.
