Alabama Makes Major Offer to Hottest In-State EDGE Prospect

Alabama Schedules Visit with Elite In-State EDGE Anthony Jones

Despite recent setbacks, including the loss of 4-star running back Jonaz Walton to Notre Dame, Alabama’s recruiting efforts remain strong as they continue to secure visits from top-tier prospects.

Over the past month, the Crimson Tide have not only earned a spot as a finalist for eight high-profile 2026 recruits but also secured a visit from 5-star linebacker Xavier Griffin, who recently decommitted from USC. Now, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3, Alabama has lined up another elite visit for the summer, this time with 5-star EDGE rusher and top-five national talent, Anthony Jones.

Jones, a standout from St. Paul’s Episcopal in Mobile, Alabama, stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 240 pounds. According to the 247Sports composite ranking, he is currently the No. 3 EDGE rusher in the country, trailing only fellow 5-star Cederian Morgan for the top spot in Alabama. Although he’s not ranked No. 1 in the state, Jones remains one of the most highly sought-after prospects in the nation.

Jones is scheduled to visit Tuscaloosa on June 22, marking the conclusion of a busy summer for him, which includes trips to Auburn (May 16), Miami (May 30), Texas A&M (June 5), and Oregon (June 13).

Known for his dynamic pass-rushing ability, Jones is a force both with power and speed. He’s quick off the line of scrimmage and uses his hands effectively to shed blockers, making him a difficult matchup for offensive lines.

As of now, Alabama has five commitments for the 2026 class and is currently ranked No. 37 in the nation by 247Sports.
