Connor McDavid Gets Frustrated by Reporter’s Question After Oilers’ Thrilling Victory
The Edmonton Oilers are headed to the Western Conference finals after defeating the Vegas Golden Knights in a five-game series. After a dramatic 1-0 overtime win on Wednesday, one might expect Connor McDavid to be in high spirits, but his postgame mood told a different story.

When McDavid spoke with reporters following the game, he seemed irritated by a question regarding the Oilers’ defense.
“I mean, how many times are we going to answer this question, honestly? It’s frustrating that we keep talking about this,” McDavid said, clearly annoyed. “We can defend. We’ve proven it over and over again. Come into a tough building and win a 1–0 game when it matters most. We can play that way, we can score goals, and we can win however we need to.”
The Oilers managed to shut out the Golden Knights in back-to-back games to close out the series, including a 3–0 win in Game 4 and a 1–0 victory in Game 5. Despite these strong defensive performances, McDavid was still pressed about the team’s defense, and he wasn’t interested in continuing the conversation.
Given that Edmonton allowed 24 goals in the first round against the Los Angeles Kings, it’s understandable that concerns about the defense might linger. However, after holding the Golden Knights to just nine goals in five games, McDavid wasn’t eager to entertain more questions about it following their series-clinching win.
