DL Jamir Perez Commits to Florida After Official Visit
Three-star defensive lineman Jamir Perez has decided to end his recruitment, committing to the Florida Gators following his official visit.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After wrapping up his visit with the Florida Gators, Jamir Perez, a 6-4, 330-pound defensive lineman from Cleveland (Oh.) Glenville, announced his commitment to the program on Sunday. Perez becomes Florida’s first commitment of the summer and the second overall for the 2025 class.
Ranked as Rivals’ No. 28 defensive lineman, Perez had previously scheduled official visits to Vanderbilt (May 30), Wisconsin (June 6), Cincinnati (June 13), and Ohio State (June 20). However, following his commitment, he plans to cancel those trips.
“For me, it’s shut down. I committed today, so it’s Gator time,” Perez said after his visit. “Ain’t no more room for anyone else in my opinion. It’s time to put in that work.”
Earlier in the day, On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Corey Bender had predicted Perez would choose Florida.
“As an Ohio kid, Ohio State was always in the picture,” Perez explained. “But I’ve always dreamed of playing in the SEC. I’ve got the body and the mentality for it. I’m an SEC type of player.”
Perez was one of seven recruits who visited Florida over the weekend, joining five-star offensive lineman Felix Ojo, five-star defensive back Chauncey Kennon, five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell, four-star running back Carsyn Baker, four-star offensive lineman Ekene Ogboko, and four-star edge rusher Luke Wafle.
Florida is also expected to land several other top prospects, including four-star defensive lineman Valdin Sone, four-star linebacker Malik Morris, four-star safety CJ Hester, interior offensive lineman G’Nivre Carr, and tight end Kekua Aumua.
