Stars Fans Show Support for Jets’ Mark Scheifele After Father’s Death
Dallas Stars fans are making waves for their kind-hearted gesture toward Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele, following the sudden death of his father, Brad.
Scheifele took to the ice in Saturday’s Game 6, which ended in a season-ending loss to the Stars, despite the emotional weight of his father’s passing. His status for the game had been uncertain, but he chose to play in his father’s honor. While Scheifele scored a goal in the second period, the Jets ultimately lost in overtime.
Despite the intense competition, the hockey community came together to support Scheifele in a moving show of solidarity. After the game, players from both teams comforted an emotional Scheifele during the handshake line, a poignant moment following the end of a playoff series.
Per r/DallasStars, @DallasStars supporters have taken the initiative to make donations to the True North Foundation and/or KidSport Canada, both of which are charities supported by Mark Scheifele.
