Herly Brutus, a 6-foot-7 guard/forward in the 2026 recruiting class, announced Sunday that he has received a scholarship offer from the Dayton Flyers.
Brutus plays at The Villages Charter School in Florida, located northeast of Orlando, and averaged 10.5 points and 6.8 rebounds during his junior season.
Dayton, led by head coach Anthony Grant—who is originally from Miami—and assistant coach James Kane, who also has roots in South Florida, frequently recruits from the Sunshine State. The Flyers’ 2025-26 roster already features two Florida natives: Javon Bennett and De’Shayne Montgomery.
Brutus has also picked up recent offers from LSU and Maryland, while TCU and Florida State extended offers earlier this spring.
Nationally, Brutus is ranked No. 70 in ESPN’s Top 100 for the 2026 class and No. 114 in the 247Sports composite rankings.
He is the second highly-ranked 2026 prospect to receive an offer from Dayton this month, joining 6-foot-5 guard Aiden Derkack of Colonia High School in New Jersey, who was offered last week.
Dayton has extended offers to 10 prospects in the 2026 class, with seven of those players ranked in ESPN’s top 100.
Among the group are: 6-foot-5 guard Cameron Holmes (No. 19) from Goodyear, Arizona; 6-foot-2 point guard Taylen Kinney (No. 21) from Newport, Kentucky; 6-foot-7 forward Anthony Thompson (No. 24) from Lebanon and Western Reserve Academy; Aiden Derkack (No. 53); 6-foot-10 forward Cody Peck (No. 68) from Matthews, North Carolina; and 6-foot-7 forward T.J. Crumble (No. 92) from Cleveland.
