Decision Made: Treysen Eaglestaff Chooses Between NBA Draft and Returning to WVU
West Virginia received some positive news on Tuesday afternoon. While there had been little doubt that Treysen Eaglestaff, the transfer from North Dakota, would ultimately remain in the 2025 NBA Draft, the uncertainty lingered until the official word came through.
College basketball insider Jeff Goodman reported that Eaglestaff has officially withdrawn his name from the draft and will return to Morgantown for another season.
“This was a tough decision, but after discussing it with my family, I believe this is the best path for my future,” Eaglestaff shared with Goodman. “I want to thank Coach Paris and the South Carolina staff for their interest in me throughout this process.”
Eaglestaff’s decision is a huge win for the Mountaineers, who landed him from the transfer portal. Last season, he averaged 18.9 points per game on 41% shooting, including 36% from beyond the arc. His most impressive performances included a 40-point game against Alabama and a remarkable 51-point outing in The Summit Quarterfinals against South Dakota State.
“We’re thrilled to have Treysen join the West Virginia basketball program,” said Hodge in a press release after Eaglestaff’s commitment on April 22. “He’s versatile, capable of playing multiple positions, and his combination of size and skill makes him a great fit for us. His dedication to improvement and strong work ethic will allow him to keep growing as a player.”
