Houston Texans Add Versatile DB Following Strong Workout
The Houston Texans are bolstering their defense with a new addition.
According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the Texans have signed undrafted defensive back Keydrain Calligan from Southeast Louisiana after a successful workout.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 200 pounds, Calligan is known for his flexibility, capable of playing both cornerback and safety. In his final season at Southeast Louisiana, he recorded 39 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one interception.
Before his time at Southeast Louisiana in 2024, Calligan played two seasons at Louisiana-Monroe and one at Jackson State, where he tallied 19 tackles and one interception.

Now, Calligan joins a group of undrafted free agents hoping to earn a spot on the Texans’ 53-man roster through a strong training camp and preseason performance. He joins a talented secondary led by Defensive Player of the Year candidate Derek Stingley Jr. at cornerback and new addition C.J. Gardner-Johnson in the safety group.
With OTAs starting on May 28th, it’s the perfect opportunity for Calligan to make a strong impression and fight for a role on the team.
