Neiko Mundey earned an offer from Pitt after catching Jeff Capel’s eye during the live period over the weekend
Following a strong showing on the Adidas Jr. 3SSB Circuit, class of 2026 point guard Neiko Mundey received a scholarship offer from Pitt. Head coach Jeff Capel extended the offer to the 6-foot-3 guard on Monday after watching him in action over the weekend. Mundey currently plays for Shabach Christian Academy, located just outside of Washington, D.C.
“Pitt visited my school in April, so I had a feeling they’d be out to watch me play this past weekend,” Mundey told Panther-Lair.com after receiving the offer. “Coach Capel called me and said he was really impressed with my overall game, and they decided to offer. He also mentioned he’s going to keep following my progress and wants to see me continue to improve.”
Mundey also shared that Capel emphasized how much he appreciates his skill set and what he brings to the court.
The college basketball recruiting landscape is heating up as Pitt makes a significant move by entering the race for one of the DMV’s rising stars, Neiko Mundey. He said that he is going to continue to watch me play and make sure that I am getting better.” Mundey noted that Capel values his versatility and what he brings to the court as a player.

According to recent reports, Syracuse, Florida, Georgia Tech, Georgetown, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Wake Forest, George Washington, Florida State, Towson, East Carolina, Old Dominion, Illinois, Louisville, and Texas Tech have all extended offers. Mundey’s stock has soared after strong showings in both high school and AAU play, particularly with the New World squad in the Adidas 3SSB league, where he helped lead his team to a 15U championship in 2023 and continued to impress with the 16U team in 2024.
Recruiting analysts highlight Mundey’s natural scoring instincts, improved passing, quick burst off the dribble, and creativity with the ball in his hands. His ability to get to his spots and finish through contact has made him a must-watch prospect in the 2026 class. National rankings reflect his ascent, with 247Sports listing him as the No. 54 overall player in the nation, the No. 8 point guard, and the No. 2 player in Maryland for his class.
