Duke Basketball Secures Commitment from Italian Star, Defeating Kansas
Duke basketball has added a significant piece to its 2025-26 roster, securing a commitment from Italian prospect Dame Sarr.
Just days after completing an official visit with the Blue Devils, the 6-foot-7, 190-pound Sarr announced his decision to join Jon Scheyer’s squad on Thursday. This comes after a late push by Duke, which swooped in during the final stages of Sarr’s recruitment, despite Kansas being heavily involved just a week ago, as noted by 247Sports’ Travis Branham.
Sarr, a five-star recruit with a reported 7-foot wingspan, is expected to step into a starting role for the Blue Devils in Scheyer’s fourth season as head coach. He will arrive in Durham this summer after an impressive season in Spain’s ACB and EuroLeague, where he also played alongside a former Duke one-and-done player.

“Duke was my dream school,” Sarr told ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. “I watched a lot of NCAA games this season, especially Duke. I played with Jabari Parker this season, who went to Duke. When I had the chance to go there, I had to take it.”
At just 18 years old, Sarr has four years of college eligibility left but is already projected to be a first-round pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
