Rangers Consider Trading Panarin in Potential Blockbuster Deal with Western Team
The New York Rangers are expected to make significant changes during the offseason, and one possible move could involve trading star forward Artemi Panarin.
Using the PuckGM tool from PuckPedia, a proposed trade has emerged in which the Rangers send Panarin to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a hefty package. Here’s the breakdown of the proposed deal:

This potential blockbuster trade would see the Rangers part with Panarin in exchange for a promising young forward, a defensive prospect, and two draft picks, including a high first-round selection.
The key components of the deal are the two draft picks and Zegras. As a 24-year-old top-six forward, Zegras would bring much-needed youth to New York’s lineup. Entering the final year of his three-year, $17.25 million contract, Zegras posted 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points in 57 games last season.
In addition to Zegras, the Rangers would also acquire 22-year-old defenseman Tyson Hinds, who has spent the last two years in the AHL. He could be in the running for an NHL spot next season.
On the other hand, Panarin would provide the Ducks with a star player capable of elevating their roster. Panarin is entering the final year of his seven-year, $81.5 million contract, and Anaheim would likely want to negotiate an extension as part of the trade. The 31-year-old winger had an impressive 2023 season, scoring 37 goals and recording 52 assists for 89 points in 80 games.
Rangers Open to Trading Panarin
Following New York’s failure to make the playoffs, major changes are expected for the Rangers this offseason. The team is reportedly considering trades involving Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider, with Panarin likely bringing the biggest return.
NHL insider David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period has reported that the Rangers are open to trading Panarin, adding that recent rumors suggest the team is evaluating whether to keep its current core or move on from Panarin. The Rangers could potentially use the cap space and assets from such a trade to revamp their roster.
“In the last few days, I’ve been hearing some interesting whispers surrounding Artemi Panarin,” Pagnotta said. “While I’m not sure if he’s fully available, with one year left on his contract, the Rangers have to decide whether they want to stick with this core or move Panarin, get a significant return, and use that cap space to reshape the roster.”
Panarin, a two-time NHL All-Star, has spent the last six seasons with the Rangers. His future with the team remains uncertain, and the offseason could bring significant changes for the organization.
