Meet the newest member of North Carolina’s wide receiver room.
One key takeaway from the offseason for UNC football is that young players are eager to play for Head Coach Bill Belichick.
On Sunday afternoon, Coach Belichick and his team secured another transfer from the portal. Nathan Leacock, a wide receiver who previously played for the Tennessee Volunteers and Purdue Boilermakers, will be joining the Carolina Argyle this season. Leacock is a redshirt sophomore and has three years of eligibility left. Pete Nakos from On3 Sports reported the update.

With Leacock now on board, UNC football’s incoming transfer portal class has reached 41 players. The Tar Heels have made significant strides in the portal since Coach Belichick took charge. According to 247Sports, North Carolina’s transfer class is ranked No. 9 nationally, which is quite an achievement. The influence of Belichick is definitely evident.
Leacock’s move to UNC seemed destined from the start. The 6-foot-3, 216-pound receiver hails from Raleigh, North Carolina, making this a homecoming for him.
Before joining Carolina, Leacock did not take the field for Purdue after transferring there just this past winter. He originally began his college journey at Tennessee, where he entered as a highly touted four-star recruit in the Class of 2023, ranked as the No. 76 overall recruit by 247Sports Composite. However, he has been rated as a three-star transfer by 247Sports.
During his redshirt freshman year at Tennessee, Leacock played in only one game, recording just one catch. While his collegiate experience is limited, his skill and potential are undeniable. Fans are hopeful that Belichick will help Leacock reach his full potential and showcase why he was such an esteemed prospect out of high school. Welcome to Chapel Hill!
