Georgia Coach Kirby Smart Has Fun Joking About Texas Longhorns Ahead of 2025 Season
Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart took a playful jab at the Texas Longhorns as the 2025 college football season approaches.
Although the season is still months away, “smack talk season” has already begun, with rivalries heating up across college football. While some rivalries, especially in the SEC, can get pretty intense, there’s always room for some lighthearted banter.
In a recent social media video, Smart got in on the fun, making a joke at Texas’ expense. The clip was filmed during a photo shoot for the upcoming EA Sports College Football video game, where Smart was asked a series of questions by YouTube personality Gene Dangus, also known as “Big Game Bengal.” Dangus, a Texas fan, playfully asked Smart, “Is it going to be tough watching Texas hoist the SEC Championship Trophy this year?”

Smart, never one to shy away from a little friendly banter, quickly responded with a cheeky retort: “In what sport? Baseball or basketball?”
Texas may have been ranked as the No. 1 team in the country last year, but Smart certainly has reason to joke, as his Bulldogs beat the Longhorns twice last season, including a win on Texas’ own turf.
The two teams will meet again in the 2025 regular season, with Texas making its first-ever visit to Athens on Saturday, November 15th. The game’s kickoff time and TV broadcast details have yet to be announced.
