The leading scorer for the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons basketball team in 2024-2025 will have the opportunity to advance her career at the collegiate level. During signing ceremonies held at the high school on Tuesday evening, Lady Maroon graduate Riley Sword officially committed to attend Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, Tennessee.
This past season, Sword averaged 14.8 points per game, topping the Lady Maroons’ scoring. She also led the team with 61 three-pointers made and excelled at the free throw line, making over 80 percent of her attempts.
Volunteer State is part of the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association.
Sword is the second player from the 2nd Region girls’ basketball to sign with Volunteer State in recent weeks, following Hopkinsville’s Lashanti Wilson, who has also committed to the Tennessee school.
