Anthony Edwards Offers Candid Reaction After Timberwolves’ Game 5 Loss to Thunder

After the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 124-94 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, All-Star guard Anthony Edwards gave a refreshingly honest statement to the media.

Edwards: “We lost. I can’t think about how close we might have gotten. We lost. That’s all that matters. They were the better team. They came out, beat us, punched us in the face… We lost the game, we lost the series.”

In the loss, Edwards recorded 19 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one block, shooting 7-of-18 from the field and 1-of-7 from beyond the arc.

A reminder from @PurpleForTheWin on Twitter: “Ant is only 23 and has led his team to back-to-back Western Conference Finals. Jordan was 27 before winning his first title, after back-to-back losses in the ECF to the Pistons. Progress takes time. Anthony Edwards is still the face of the franchise and still ‘that dude.’ Let TSJ and Dillingham develop, add a big with better hands, and we’ll be in good shape. Keep hope alive.”

Edwards, who was the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft after one season at the University of Georgia, has been pivotal in the Timberwolves’ resurgence. Under his leadership, the Timberwolves have made the playoffs in four out of his first five seasons.
