Mariners Reportedly Making a Big Uniform Change Before Thursday’s Game Against Nationals
After suffering a tough 9-0 loss to the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, the Seattle Mariners are reportedly making a significant change for Thursday’s series finale at T-Mobile Park.
No, they’re not calling up prospects like Harry Ford or Cole Young, so don’t get your hopes up. Instead, the Mariners are changing their uniforms.
The team announced on social media that they will be wearing their popular “City Connect” uniforms, which are usually reserved for Friday night home games. Since the Mariners are also at home this Friday against the Minnesota Twins, it’s likely they’ll wear the City Connect uniforms for two consecutive games.
Although Seattle is just 1-3 in these uniforms this season, they’re hoping a new look can spark a turnaround.
Wednesday’s loss was particularly tough for the Mariners, as George Kirby gave up six earned runs over five innings, and the offense managed only five hits against Trevor Williams, who had yet to post a quality start all season.

Thursday’s game will feature left-hander MacKenzie Gore for the Nationals, who has a 3.47 ERA and 93 strikeouts, despite a 2-5 record. Gore, a likely All-Star, was part of the trade that sent Juan Soto to San Diego. The Mariners will counter with right-hander Emerson Hancock, who has been solid recently, sitting at 2-2 with a 5.95 ERA and a fastball now consistently in the 95-97 mph range.
The Mariners are currently 30-24 and hold a slim 0.5-game lead in the American League West. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. PT.
