Matthew Tkachuk’s Bold Message to Oilers Resurfaces Before Stanley Cup Final Rematch

Matthew Tkachuk’s Prediction for Stanley Cup Final Rematch Surfaces Ahead of 2025 Clash

The 2025 Stanley Cup Final is set to be a thrilling rematch between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers, who will face off for the second consecutive year.

This marks the first Stanley Cup Final rematch since 2009, and given the unpredictable nature of the NHL, it’s a scenario few could have predicted. However, Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk did see it coming.

A clip from last year’s Stanley Cup Final resurfaced on social media after both teams claimed their respective conference titles. In the video, Tkachuk is seen speaking to Oilers stars Connor McDavid and Stuart Skinner during the handshake line after the Panthers won the 2024 Final. Tkachuk can be heard saying, “We’ll see you in the Finals next year. You guys are too good.”

While the Panthers lifted the Cup after defeating the Oilers 4-3 in last year’s series, this year’s matchup could have a different outcome.

Tkachuk shared his thoughts on the upcoming rematch in an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday.

“I know them pretty well from my time in Calgary, and I’ve seen a lot of these players grow, especially playing against [Connor] McDavid a lot,” said Tkachuk. “When you’re up against the best player in the world, he’s always a tough challenge, but it’s not just McDavid—they’re a deep team.”

“They play hard on both ends of the ice, their goalie is playing fantastic right now, and they’re playing their best hockey of the season. It’s going to be a tough battle for us.”

The first game of the series is set for Wednesday night in Edmonton.
