Panthers and Lions Could Be Poised for an Intriguing Trade
The Carolina Panthers are positioning themselves as strong contenders for the NFC South title after being highly active in the offseason to improve their roster. But could they find additional opportunities for roster moves as summer approaches?
Dean Jones of Cat Crave suggests that the Panthers might be able to strike a deal with the Detroit Lions, who now find themselves in need of a center after the unexpected retirement of Frank Ragnow.
“Here’s where the Panthers come in. They have a surplus of centers,” Jones explained. “Austin Corbett, Cade Mays, and Brady Christensen have all shown they can be reliable starters. If the Lions are on the hunt for a new center, reaching out to [Dan] Morgan could be a smart move.”
While the Panthers may not get a major return for any of these players, Detroit’s urgency could allow Carolina to secure a decent Day 3 draft pick in exchange.
“If the Lions come calling, Carolina will have leverage,” Jones added. “If a bigger-than-expected offer surfaces, trading one of these players could make sense.”
While Carolina does face its own questions on the offensive line, moving a surplus player is always a smart move. It will be interesting to see if the Panthers and Lions can come together for a potential trade in the coming weeks.
