The Red Sox made a handful of moves on Tuesday…

The Boston Red Sox had a hectic Tuesday.

In the second game of a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels, the Red Sox managed to tie the game at three with a two-run homer from Ceddanne Rafaela, but ultimately lost in extra innings, bringing their season record to 29-34.

It was a challenging night, but the Red Sox were active even before the game began. Prior to the matchup, they announced the call-up of right-handed pitcher Cooper Criswell from the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox, the recall of reliever Zack Kelly, the placement of reliever Nick Burdi on the 15-day Injured List, and the optioning of starter Richard Fitts back to Triple-A Worcester.

Additionally, Tommy Cassell from the Worcester T&G Sports reported before Tuesday’s game that Yasmani Grandal will no longer be a part of Triple-A Worcester, although it hasn’t been officially labeled as a release or retirement as of now.

“According to WooSox manager Chad Tracy, veteran catcher Yasmani Grandal is no longer with Triple-A Worcester,” Cassell stated. “‘It was his choice. We talked yesterday, and he said, ‘It’s time to be dad.” To eliminate any confusion, Yasmani Grandal will not be playing for the WooSox anymore, and it’s just a matter of deciding whether to classify it as retirement or a release at this point.”

It was indeed a hectic day. Although things didn’t go in Boston’s favor, they will have a chance for redemption on Wednesday afternoon against the Angels.
