Iowa Hawkeyes Icon George Kittle Praises Brock Purdy’s Leadership
Iowa Hawkeyes legend George Kittle has made a bold statement regarding his quarterback, Brock Purdy, highlighting his leadership qualities.
Kittle shared a moment from practice, explaining how Purdy’s leadership was on full display. “Today, he was throwing a route over the middle, and Jauan (Jennings) stopped running it. Brock immediately called him out for it. Hearing him do that shows the standard he sets for us—the way we run our routes, where we need to be during his drop, and the timing he expects,” Kittle said.
As Purdy enters his fourth season, it’s clear to Kittle that the 25-year-old is growing into a more vocal and assertive leader.
“He’s not just saying ‘we’ll get it next time’—he’s talking through the frustration with Jauan, ensuring that next time they’re all on the same page. That kind of communication is awesome. It’s been great to see that from him,” Kittle added.
Kittle has often been one of Purdy’s top targets, forming a strong connection on the field. In the 2024 season, Kittle recorded 78 catches for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns.
Both Purdy and Kittle signed contract extensions with the 49ers this offseason, ensuring their continued dynamic partnership for years to come.
