Rutgers Scarlet Knights Continue Strong Recruiting Streak with Florida DB Commitment
Latrell Noel, a Florida defensive back, has reclassified and will enroll early at Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights are off to a strong start in another active recruiting weekend.
On Friday, Noel, a 6-foot-3 cornerback, announced his commitment to Rutgers and head coach Greg Schiano. Despite having nine scholarship offers, Noel chose the Scarlet Knights over other programs such as Coastal Carolina, James Madison, UConn, Toledo, Yale, and Navy.
This marks the third straight year Rutgers has secured a commitment from a player who will reclassify and join the program early. Originally from First Baptist Academy in Naples, FL, Noel moved to Connecticut for a prep year at Loomis Chaffee School.
Noel had already planned an official visit to Rutgers after impressing coaches at a recent camp. It didn’t take long for him to decide to commit to the Scarlet Knights and become part of the 2025 recruiting class.
With this commitment, Rutgers now has 28 recruits in the 2025 class, including four cornerbacks: Noel, Michael Clayton, Renick Dorilas, and Steven Murray.
As a senior, Noel totaled 50 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and one sack. He also had five pass deflections, three fumble recoveries, and a blocked punt. Known for his versatility, Noel can play on the outside and contribute on special teams.
Rutgers has a long tradition of developing defensive backs who make it to the NFL, a trend that started during Schiano’s first stint as head coach and has continued since his return in 2020. Noel now looks to follow in those footsteps and make an impact for the Scarlet Knights.
