Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Thanks ‘Special’ Thunder Fans with Heartfelt Postgame Message
After a dominant Game 2 performance, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander took a moment to recognize the incredible support from the Oklahoma City Thunder fans. Despite losing home-court advantage with a dramatic Game 1 finish, the Thunder bounced back strong in Game 2, securing a 123-107 win over the Indiana Pacers to even the NBA Finals series at 1-1. Gilgeous-Alexander led all scorers with 34 points.
In his postgame remarks, the league MVP made sure to give a heartfelt shoutout to the passionate fans at the Paycom Center, who made their presence felt over the first two games of the Finals. He described the crowd as “special” and shared how their energy made a difference, even when playing on the road.
“It feels like throughout the playoffs, the crowd just finds a way to get louder every game,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “I don’t know how they do it. It’s special to play in front of them.”
He added, “Honestly, the road games feel a little easier because it almost doesn’t get as loud as it does at home. They’re special. The best fans in the world.”
The Thunder have only lost two home games during the entire postseason, underscoring how vital the home-court advantage has been, thanks to the support of the fans.
Unfortunately, Oklahoma City fans will have to wait a few days before they see their team again, as the series now shifts to Indiana for the next two games. If the Thunder can win both, the series could return to OKC with a chance to clinch the Finals in Game 5.
There’s still plenty of basketball to be played, though, with Game 3 set to tip off at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.
