On Sunday afternoon, Texas A&M baseball secured a significant addition to its 2026 roster.

The Aggies have reportedly received a commitment from Jake Duer, a former outfielder from Florida Atlantic, who recently entered the transfer portal. Before a season-ending injury, Duer was batting over .400.

The news of Duer’s commitment was initially reported by D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers.

TRANSFER NEWS: Former FAU outfielder Jake Duer is headed to @AggieBaseball, I’m told. Duer was hitting .428 with 11 doubles for the Owls before being sidelined for the year with an injury. He was having a big-time breakout season. #Aggies

Duer participated in 34 games before his season was cut short. He ended the year with a batting average of .428 and struck out only 10 times in 138 at-bats. Displaying some power, he achieved a .551 slugging percentage. Additionally, he drew 18 walks, resulting in an impressive on-base percentage of .497. Duer is expected to be a potential lead-off hitter for the Aggies in 2026.

His contribution will be crucial for Texas A&M as they aim to improve their performance next season in College Station. After starting the year with hopes of reaching the College World Series, the Aggies failed to make the NCAA Tournament due to a disappointing performance. With only one qualified hitter averaging above .300 this season, Duer has the opportunity to significantly influence the team next year.

Texas A&M plans to pursue more transfers this offseason as they work on enhancing their roster for 2026.
