San Antonio Spurs Make Major Staff Upgrade

Timberwolves Assistant Coach Expected to Join Spurs Staff

It seems the Minnesota Timberwolves will be losing an assistant coach this offseason.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Corliss Williamson, currently an assistant coach with the Timberwolves, is set to join the San Antonio Spurs’ coaching staff under new head coach Mitch Johnson for the upcoming season.

Williamson, who played over 10 seasons in the NBA during the late ’90s and early 2000s, transitioned into coaching after his playing career. He has spent the last two seasons as part of Chris Finch’s staff with the Timberwolves, following a variety of roles in coaching.

Wolves insider Jon Krawczynski has praised Williamson as an “important voice” on the Timberwolves’ staff.

There have been no reports or rumors yet regarding how Finch and the Timberwolves plan to fill Williamson’s position on the coaching staff.
