Jaxsen Stokes details his most recent recruiting updates with UCLA Bruins On SI
The UCLA Bruins are beginning to hone in on their top priorities for the 2027 recruiting class, and one standout is already gaining serious traction—running back Jaxsen Stokes out of Sierra Canyon in California.
Stokes, a promising 2027 prospect, has picked up offers from several programs including Arizona State, Kansas, Cal, UCLA, and others.
In a recent interview with UCLA Bruins on SI, Stokes shared insights into his recruitment and his interest in UCLA.
“Getting the offer from UCLA meant a lot to me,” he said. “I grew up going to their games and always pictured myself playing there. Staying close to home is important, and UCLA has everything I need to be successful.”
He’s especially eager to strengthen his connection with running backs coach A.J. Steward.
“I’m looking forward to building a strong relationship with Coach Steward and head coach DeShaun Foster,” Stokes said. “I’ve spoken with Coach Foster multiple times. I think he’s a great leader who’s working to restore UCLA’s legacy. The program plays in one of the top conferences in the country, which really adds to its appeal.”
Stokes has already visited Westwood several times and plans to be back soon.
“I went to two games last season and also visited during spring ball,” he added. “I’m planning another trip this summer—if not then, definitely during the season.”
While UCLA is firmly in the mix, other programs have also made an impression.
“The schools standing out to me right now are USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA, Oregon, Arizona State, Tennessee, and Cal. These programs have shown consistent interest, which means a lot,” he explained.
When he thinks about UCLA, certain things immediately come to mind.
“I think of tradition, legacy, and academics. UCLA is the top public university in the world and has a rich sports history,” he said.
Stokes confirmed that UCLA is in a strong position as his recruitment unfolds.
“The Bruins are high on my list because of the relationships I’ve built with the coaches and the overall environment. Being part of a top academic institution in a great city is definitely something I’ll consider when it’s time to make my decision,” he said.
