4-Star 2026 WR Zion Legree Commits to Wisconsin Badgers
A former SEC commit has shifted his focus and now plans to join the University of Wisconsin football program. Here’s a look at what he could bring to the Badgers’ offense.
Zion Legree, who will play his senior year at Destin High School in Florida, announced on Sunday via On3 that he has committed to Wisconsin.
Legree, rated as a four-star recruit, is ranked No. 220 nationally and No. 28 among wide receivers in the 2026 class by Rivals. He was previously committed to Mississippi under head coach Lane Kiffin but decommitted earlier this year.
Here are three key points about Legree’s commitment, following his official visit to Wisconsin this past weekend:
1. High-Profile Recruitment
Legree had a strong list of suitors during his recruitment. His top eight schools in October 2024 included Ole Miss, Georgia, Miami, Missouri, Illinois, Washington, Florida, and Mississippi State. He was also planning a visit to Ohio State before his Wisconsin trip and recently received an offer from Nebraska. Earlier in his process, he also received offers from Auburn, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, and Notre Dame.
2. Boosting Speed in Wisconsin’s WR Room
Wisconsin’s coaching staff, under Luke Fickell, has been focused on adding more athleticism and length to various positions, especially outside linebacker, defensive line, and defensive backs. With Legree, however, they add a speedy playmaker who could be a serious threat in Jeff Grimes’ offensive scheme. A tweet from June 2023 revealed that Legree clocked a 4.35 in the 40-yard dash at an Auburn camp.
3. Wisconsin’s Growing WR Class
Legree’s commitment adds another receiver to the Badgers’ 2026 class, which now includes two wide receivers. He joins Tayshon Bardo (Mishawaka Penn, Indiana) as the second receiver in the class. Wisconsin’s wide receivers coach Jordan Reid, along with the rest of the coaching staff, deserves credit for securing Legree’s commitment. He’s the 13th player to commit to the Badgers overall and the seventh since June 1.
There are also other wide receiver targets to watch, such as Jayden Petit (Naples St. John Neumann, Florida) and Zachary Washington (Wheaton St. Francis, Illinois), who visited Madison in late May and early June. Both have also taken official visits to other Power Four programs.
