Illinois Extends Offer to Potentially Game-Changing 2027 OT Terrance Smith
The Illini offer four-star offensive tackle Terrance Smith from Lansdale (Pennsylvania) Catholic on Sunday.
Illinois has joined the list of schools offering four-star offensive tackle Terrance Smith, a Class of 2027 recruit from Lansdale (Pennsylvania) Catholic. Smith now holds 22 offers after the Illini extended theirs on Sunday.
Coach Bret Bielema and the Illinois staff will face significant competition for Smith’s commitment. In addition to Illinois, Smith has received offers from several other Big Ten programs, including Maryland, Michigan State, Penn State, Rutgers, and Wisconsin, as well as six SEC schools: Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Standing 6’6″ and weighing 260 pounds, Smith is ranked fourth in Pennsylvania for his class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, and is No. 10 at his position nationally. However, Illinois may already be playing catch-up in his recruitment. Smith has made four visits to Big Ten rival Penn State in the past six months, as well as four visits to Rutgers over the past 11 months.
Smith has not yet visited Champaign, and Bielema’s staff will need to bring him to campus soon to make their push. While Smith still has plenty of time before committing, without a summer visit to Illinois, their chances of landing him could diminish significantly.
