Three-Star Edge Rusher Flips Commitment From Oklahoma State to Illinois

Three-Star Edge Rusher Jaylen Stewart Changes Commitment from Oklahoma State to Illinois

Jaylen Stewart, a three-star edge rusher from Pearland, Texas, made a significant change in his college commitment on Sunday, flipping from Oklahoma State to Illinois. This marks the first recruit of the 2026 class for Illinois head coach Bret Bielema.

Stewart’s decision is a big win for the Illini. During his junior season at Pearland, he recorded 52 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and six sacks, while also contributing as a running back. Stewart is ranked as the 75th edge rusher in the 2026 class and 131st overall in the state of Texas.

In addition to offers from Oklahoma State and Illinois, Stewart had 10 other Power 4 offers, including interest from USC in the Big Ten and Auburn in the SEC.

Bielema and his staff continue to make significant strides on the recruiting trail. Stewart becomes the 19th commitment for Illinois’ 2026 class, and with this momentum, the Illini could potentially finish inside the top 10 in the recruiting rankings when the class is finalized.
