Denver Nuggets Part Ways with Key Front Office Member

The Denver Nuggets have made another significant move in their front office, letting go of assistant general manager Tommy Balcetis. This follows an offseason already marked by major changes, including the firing of head coach Mike Malone and general manager Calvin Booth just before the regular season ended.

The Nuggets are not renewing the contract of assistant general manager Tommy Balcetis, sources told @DenverPost. The decision leaves Denver without a full-time GM and assistant GM nine days before the NBA draft.

According to Bennett Durando of the Denver Post, the Nuggets will not be renewing Balcetis’ contract. Having been with the team since 2013, Balcetis has seen the franchise through various stages of its evolution, from pre-Jokic and Murray days to their 2023 championship victory.

This decision leaves the Nuggets without a permanent general manager or assistant general manager as the offseason progresses. With the NBA Draft just days away and no picks of their own, Denver is still in search of a front-office structure. Ben Tenzer is currently serving as the interim GM. The team’s focus now shifts toward free agency and the trade market, as they aim to retool the roster to better support Nikola Jokic in another championship push. Denver was eliminated in a heartbreaking round-two series against the Oklahoma City Thunder for the second consecutive year. Jokic, who nearly claimed his fourth MVP this season, put up impressive numbers, averaging 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 10.2 assists.
