22-year-old forward could have become restricted free agent July 1

Matt Rempe agreed to a two-year, \$1.95 million contract with the New York Rangers on Wednesday, carrying an average annual value of \$975,000.

The 22-year-old forward was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1. This past season, he recorded eight points (three goals, five assists) over 42 games, while leading the team with 67 penalty minutes and averaging 19.64 hits per 60 minutes. Among players with at least 50 games played, his 22.12 hits per 60 minutes rank fifth in the NHL since the start of the 2023-24 campaign.

Drafted 165th overall in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Draft, Rempe has totaled 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 59 career regular-season games, along with one goal in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff appearances.
