Cowboys Shake Up Roster, Add UFL Star While Parting Ways with Fan Favorite DT
The Dallas Cowboys made several roster moves on Wednesday as they gear up for training camp starting on July 21. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who has emphasized the importance of competition, ensured there would be added depth at key positions as the team prepares for camp in Oxnard next month.
With concerns over a lack of experience at defensive tackle, the Cowboys signed former Cleveland Browns fourth-round pick Perrion Winfrey. Winfrey, who has also played for the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL, previously worked under current Dallas defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton.
Additionally, the Cowboys added Robert Rochell, a former fourth-round pick, who spent the last two seasons with the Green Bay Packers. Rochell has 48 games and five starts on his resume.
In corresponding moves, the Cowboys waived cornerback Luq Barcoo, who has only played in three games since entering the league in 2020. The team also released defensive tackle Justin Rogers, a seventh-round pick in 2024. Rogers, who was a fan favorite due to his performance in training camp, was re-signed in December after being let go last year but never appeared in a game for Dallas.
