The Giants Have Talent Where It Counts, But It Might Not Be Enough
The peak of the Brian Daboll Era came in January 2023, with a thrilling 31-24 upset over the Vikings in an NFC wild-card game at U.S. Bank Stadium.
As wide receiver Darius Slayton put it, “A franchise with such a rich history like this, this is what we’re supposed to do. We’re supposed to make the playoffs. We’re supposed to win. We’ll just keep pushing to live up to the legacy here.”
Since then, however, the Giants have gone 9-26. Daboll’s job security has been questioned. Daniel Jones, the $40 million man, hasn’t shown the growth expected of him. Saquon Barkley was treated like an undervalued running back and ended up winning a Super Bowl with the Eagles. Meanwhile, defensive coordinator Wink Martindale clashed with Daboll and was replaced by Shane Bowen.
