Rutgers star Ace Bailey is reportedly trying to manipulate his draft positioning, and he doesn’t want to play for an NBA team in particular.
Rutgers standout Ace Bailey has been one of the most debated prospects leading up to the 2025 NBA Draft. His talent and potential are clear, but he’s still seen as somewhat unpolished.
That’s part of why his decision to skip workouts with several teams picking high in the draft has caught many by surprise. As a result, Bailey has been sliding down multiple draft boards.
According to ESPN insider Jeremy Woo, this drop isn’t accidental. Bailey and his representatives are reportedly steering him away from certain teams — with the Utah Jazz being a primary one.
“Ace Bailey, who continues to fall in this projection, doesn’t seem interested in Utah and is now considered a riskier pick by many front offices,” Woo reported.
For years, Jazz fans have developed a somewhat difficult reputation among certain players. While that might not be the reason, it’s possible Bailey simply isn’t interested in joining a rebuilding franchise. Regardless, his draft strategy has certainly been unconventional. With Utah holding the No. 5 pick, Bailey may no longer be a realistic option for them.
