Saints Sign Former Falcon Barry Wesley
The New Orleans Saints have made a low-key addition to their roster, signing offensive lineman Barry Wesley.
According to KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson, Wesley joins the Saints after a stint with the UFL’s Birmingham Stallions. The offensive lineman has also played with the Atlanta Falcons and the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XFL.
Wesley’s career has been a bit of a rollercoaster. After going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft following his college career at Colorado State, he spent time with the Massachusetts Pirates in the Indoor Football League and the Sea Dragons in the XFL. He later joined the Falcons’ practice squad, but was released before the 2024 season. Following that, he played with the Stallions in the UFL.
Now, Wesley will get another opportunity to compete for a spot with the Saints during training camp. With the Saints’ offensive line struggling in 2024, they are looking for depth, and Wesley could be a potential option.
While it’s unclear if he will secure a spot on the 53-man roster, he is expected to compete for a spot on the practice squad as a realistic outcome. For now, it’s another shot for Wesley to continue his NFL dream with the Saints, even if only for the summer.
