Tulane Football Continues Strong Recruiting Push with Official Visits
Tulane Green Wave football head coach Jon Sumrall is keeping the momentum going as he builds the 2026 recruiting class.
The coaching staff has been relentless in their recruiting efforts, and the 2026 class is shaping up to be one of the most impressive among Group of Five programs. Coach Sumrall is continuing to host top prospects throughout June to strengthen the team’s future.
According to Tulane Football Recruiting on X, the Green Wave will host defensive back Brody Jones for an official visit from June 18-21, which will overlap with quarterback Trace Johnson’s visit from June 19-21.
This visit would mark the first commitment for the 2026 quarterback class. Johnson, standing at 6 feet and 170 pounds, was the leader in passing yards for Florida’s 6A division. He earned first-team All-State honors, throwing for 3,522 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 2024. He also added two rushing touchdowns. Johnson is transferring to Rancho Santa Margarita Catholic in California for his senior season to play under former NFL quarterback Carson Palmer.
Jones, a standout defensive back from Arkansas, is ranked as the No. 13 prospect in the state and the No. 2 defensive back in Arkansas, according to 247Sports. Currently committed to the Cincinnati Bearcats as of June 15, Jones is a three-star prospect that Sumrall and his staff are hoping to flip. He posted 35 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions, and seven pass breakups for Fayetteville in 2024. Jones is also a track and field athlete, with a long jump of 20-1.5 as a junior.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Jones holds offers from schools like Central Arkansas, UNLV, and several AAC programs, including Memphis, Tulsa, and North Texas.
These visits follow a talented trio of recruits—Keegan Horn, Lawrence Autry, and Devin Pettway—who are all three-star prospects and highly ranked in their respective states. The five recruits from these visits would significantly boost Tulane’s 2026 class, which currently has nine commits according to 247Sports.
Among the commits is four-star wide receiver Trez Davis, who would become the highest-ranked recruit in the program’s history.
Sumrall has already landed three of the top four highest-ranked recruits for Tulane, including Davis, defensive back Jayden Lewis, and wide receiver Zy’Carl Lewis from the 2024 class.
With strong recruiting momentum, Tulane is looking to build on its success and make a fourth consecutive trip to the American Conference Championship, aiming for their third title. They’re also pushing to improve on a 9-5 record from 2024, with hopes of securing a spot in the expanded College Football Playoff.
As Tulane continues to excel in recruiting and on the field, they’re positioning themselves as a serious contender in college football’s evolving landscape.
