Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse University revealed its themed game days for the 2025 football season on Friday, including plans for this year’s homecoming matchup.
The Orange will face off against Pitt on October 18 for homecoming, a game that carries extra significance as Syracuse looks to bounce back from its most lopsided defeat of the 2024 season.
In that game, despite Kyle McCord setting the ACC single-season passing yards record with just 12 interceptions all year, five of them came during a 41-13 loss to Pitt—where he also failed to throw a touchdown.
Pitt’s defense stifled Syracuse’s run game, limiting LeQuint Allen Jr. to just 32 yards on 13 carries. The Panthers didn’t commit a single turnover and dominated the scoreboard, even though Syracuse controlled possession for over 22 minutes longer.
Pitt brings back key contributors in quarterback Eli Holstein and linebacker Kyle Louis—both of whom could be in the mix for All-ACC honors in 2025.
Syracuse also announced additional theme days, including Military Appreciation Day on September 6 vs. UConn and First Responders and Healthcare Appreciation Day on September 13 against Colgate, among others.
