San Antonio Spurs Reportedly “Zero Interest” in Trading No. 2 Pick

With the 2025 NBA Draft just two days away, it appears the San Antonio Spurs are set on selecting Dylan Harper with the No. 2 pick.

While the top pick has been locked in for months, the Spurs’ position at No. 2 seems equally secure. Despite interest from several teams in trading for the pick, San Antonio is reportedly committed to staying put and selecting Rutgers standout point guard Dylan Harper.

In ESPN’s latest mock draft, Jonathan Givony notes that the Spurs have shown no interest in exploring trade offers for the pick. “Harper is all but assured to be taken at No. 2, with rival teams stating the Spurs have shown zero inclination to engage in trade talks,” Givony wrote.

San Antonio added De’Aaron Fox to their backcourt last season, but despite the imperfect pairing, the Spurs are focused on Harper. The 19-year-old is seen as a major addition to a roster already featuring Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle.

Givony describes Harper as a dynamic point guard, noting his combination of size, shot creation, passing ability, and scoring instincts, all of which make him a coveted lead guard in today’s NBA. His strong frame is also expected to help him thrive in the physically demanding nature of playoff basketball.

Harper is widely regarded as the No. 2 overall prospect, just behind Duke’s Cooper Flagg. In most other years, he would be a clear No. 1 pick, but this draft class works in the Spurs’ favor as they prepare to secure one of the top point guards in the field.
