Pacers Legend Reggie Miller Pens Emotional Tribute to Tyrese Haliburton and Fans

Reggie Miller Shares Heartfelt Tribute to Tyrese Haliburton and Pacers Fans

Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller expressed his deep emotions following the Pacers’ loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals on Sunday. Taking to Instagram, Miller shared a touching message about the team and their fans:

“I felt the gut punch to Pacer Nation, not only from the loss but also the loss of our fearless leader @tyresehaliburton. The man upstairs always has a master plan and ‘this too shall pass,’” Miller wrote. “I’m very grateful to the @pacers TEAM for bringing so much pride, grit, and togetherness back to Indiana basketball. Masterful job on the sideline Coach Rick Carlisle, and let’s not forget about all the men and women who work in the front offices, sacrificing so much of their time to make things happen. #OGProudPacer.”

Although the Pacers fell short in Game 7 of the Finals, they had a remarkable season led by All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton. The Pacers had endured years of playoff disappointments, either losing early or failing to make the postseason altogether from 2015 to last year. But in 2025, they made a thrilling run to the NBA Finals, forcing a Game 7 at their home court, Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and sparking hope for their first-ever championship.

However, disaster struck early in Game 7 when Haliburton, who had been playing brilliantly throughout the Finals, collapsed after just seven minutes. The two-time NBA All-Star tore his Achilles tendon, and after undergoing surgery, it’s expected he will miss the entirety of next season.

Miller, who spent all 19 seasons of his career with the Pacers, knows the pain of falling short in a Game 7 of the NBA Finals. As a five-time All-Star, he led the Pacers to their first NBA Finals in 2000, only to lose to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Despite the heart-wrenching loss and Haliburton’s injury, the Pacers have proven they can compete at the highest level. With Haliburton’s eventual return, the team will be positioned as serious championship contenders, and Pacers fans can only hope that the third time will be the charm.
