Rutgers Adds Promising 2026 Florida Defensive Lineman Reece Beck
Rutgers continued its busy recruiting spree by securing another key defensive player. On Sunday, head coach Greg Schiano received a commitment from Florida defensive lineman Reece Beck after he impressed the coaching staff during a workout. Beck made his decision official on Monday, citing the campus and the overall atmosphere of the program as major factors in his choice.
“This was my first time on campus, and it blew everything else out of the water—the facilities and everything,” Beck told The Knight Report. “I committed to Rutgers because I felt wanted.”
Beck, a standout at Ponte Vedra High School, had accumulated nearly 20 offers by the time he made his commitment, including offers from Oregon State and Syracuse, both of which he had recently visited.
As a junior, Beck was a dominant force on the field, finishing the season with 22 tackles, 8 sacks, 12 quarterback hurries, and a fumble recovery.
Rutgers’ 2026 recruiting class had previously ranked in the Top 10 before a series of decommitments, including four in recent weeks. Along with Beck’s commitment, the Scarlet Knights had a busy Monday as offensive linemen Tyrell Simpson (Virginia Tech) and Rihyeal Kelley (Alabama) flipped their commitments to Rutgers, with Alabama’s late interest swaying Kelley away from his original Rutgers pledge.
Rutgers will kick off their season on August 28 against Ohio, marking the second consecutive year they’ll start the season on a Thursday night.
