Jacob Misiorowski Nears Top of Brewers’ Record Books After Three Starts

Milwaukee Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday afternoon, throwing five scoreless innings as the Brewers triumphed 4-2 over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Facing off against reigning National League Rookie of the Year Paul Skenes, the No. 65 prospect in baseball (according to MLB Pipeline), “The Miz” struck out eight while showcasing his impressive 100+ mph fastball. Through three starts, Misiorowski remains undefeated at 3-0 with an outstanding 1.13 ERA.

His performance has already placed him in rare company in Brewers history. According to @StatsCentre, his 1.13 ERA through three starts is the third-lowest in the franchise’s history. Only Earl Stephenson (0.39) and Tom Candiotti (0.71) have had lower ERAs during their first three starts with Milwaukee.

Stephenson, who pitched for the Brewers in 1972, posted a 3-5 record with a 3.25 ERA across 80.1 innings. Candiotti, who debuted in 1983, finished his first season with a 4-4 record and a 3.23 ERA before going on to have a successful career with Cleveland and other teams, including leading the American League in complete games in 1986.

With their win, the Brewers improved to 45-36 on the season and will continue their homestand against the Colorado Rockies on Friday at 8:10 p.m. ET.
