Nuggets Sign All-Big 12 Guard Curtis Jones After 2025 NBA Draft
The Denver Nuggets, who entered the 2025 NBA Draft without a first- or second-round pick, have made a move in the undrafted free agent market by signing Iowa State guard Curtis Jones.
After going undrafted, the All-Big 12 guard decided to join the Nuggets, one of the NBA’s most competitive teams. Known for his sharpshooting, Jones heads to a Denver squad that recently gave the NBA champions one of their toughest challenges.
As a senior at Iowa State, Jones averaged 17.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He played a pivotal role in leading the Cyclones to a three-seed in the NCAA Tournament, though they were eliminated in the second round by Ole Miss.
Jones was named College Hoops Today’s National Sixth Man of the Year and earned a spot as a Second-Team All-American by the Associated Press.
The specifics of his contract have not been revealed, but it’s expected that Jones will sign either a two-way or Exhibit 10 deal.
Before the draft, Jones shared with Channel 5 KSTP that he was just seeking an opportunity.
“Really, that’s all I need,” Jones said. “Whether I’m picked 30, 40, 50, or undrafted, I feel like the type of path I’ve been on in my career, I can make almost anything happen. I feel like I could be one of those guys who could make a living in the NBA if I were undrafted.”
ESPN analyst Seth Greenberg praised Jones back in February, saying, “He’s a dynamic scoring guard, what I call a ball guard. He’s got shotmaking, explosiveness, creativity, and knows how to create separation. His playmaking has to improve a bit, but he’s got a chance to earn a roster spot. The NBA is the most exclusive club in the world.”
