Steve Sarkisian Asserts Texas Longhorns Provide Unmatched Football Experience
Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian recently shared his belief that the University of Texas offers the most comprehensive and advantageous environment for college athletes, both on and off the field.
After finishing the 2025 recruiting cycle with the top-ranked class in the nation, Texas is maintaining momentum in the 2026 class, already securing 15 commits—including two five-star prospects.
In a recent appearance on the “3rd and Longhorn” show, Sarkisian elaborated on why he views the Longhorns as the best place to play college football in the country.
“I honestly believe this is the best place in the country to play football. I have no doubt about it, and I think we have the stats and data to back it up,” Sarkisian explained. “Who else has made back-to-back College Football Playoffs and semifinals? Who was the first team in the SEC to reach the Championship game in its inaugural season? Who has had the most draft picks in the NFL over the past two years? Who signed the best recruiting class last year, a top-three class the year before, and a top-five class before that?”
Sarkisian’s Vision for Texas Football
Entering his fifth season with Texas, Sarkisian has played a pivotal role in many of the program’s recent successes. However, despite these accomplishments, a championship title has eluded the Longhorns under his leadership, and that remains a key goal.
While many believe Texas is on the cusp of achieving this, Sarkisian remains focused on continuing to build the program’s reputation. One factor that he feels sets Texas apart is the unique advantages offered by the city of Austin. As one of the largest U.S. cities without an NFL, NBA, or MLB team, Austin provides an ideal platform for Longhorn athletes to secure high-profile endorsements and build their personal brands.
Sarkisian also highlighted the university’s academic strength as a major selling point. Texas consistently ranks highly among public universities and was included in Forbes’ “New Ivies” list in 2024.
“Name another school that’s being compared to Harvard, Yale, and Princeton academically, but also being compared to Georgia, Ohio State, and Alabama on the football field,” Sarkisian said.
Ultimately, Sarkisian believes the true measure of the program’s success will come from recruits’ decisions and the team’s performance on the field, but he remains unwavering in his support for Texas, emphasizing the well-rounded advantages it offers.
