Utah Jazz Sign St. John’s Guard RJ Luis After NBA Draft

The Utah Jazz quickly added an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NBA Draft, securing St. John’s guard RJ Luis on a two-way contract.

Luis, who went undrafted after the 59th pick, wasted no time finding an opportunity with an NBA team. The 6’7″, 215-pound guard will join the Jazz for the 2025-26 season on a two-way deal.

Over the past two seasons, Luis played a major role for St. John’s under coach Rick Pitino. In the 2024-25 season, he started 32 of the 35 games he played, averaging 18.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals. He shot 43.9% from the field and 33.6% from three-point range.

St. John's star RJ Luis Jr. has agreed to a two-way NBA contract with the Utah Jazz, sources tell ESPN.

Luis becomes the second player on the Jazz roster to have a two-way contract, joining Elijah Harkless, who was signed in the middle of last season. The team’s other two-way players, Oscar Tshiebwe and Micah Potter, will become free agents next week.

Luis is expected to participate in the Jazz’s summer league appearances in both Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, giving fans a chance to see the new addition alongside the team’s other rookie prospects.
