Mets are mired in a 3-13 slide.
The New York Mets are experiencing a rough patch, having lost 13 of their last 16 games after a strong 45-24 start. This slump has pushed them down in the National League East standings and left fans feeling frustrated. Owner Steve Cohen, a prominent supporter, acknowledged the team’s struggles in a post on X on Monday morning.
“It’s a tough stretch,” Cohen stated. “There’s no sugarcoating it. I didn’t foresee this happening. I share everyone’s frustration. We’ll get through this phase. Our injured pitchers will be returning in the coming weeks. It’s unlikely our hitting with runners in scoring position will stay this weak. Keep the faith!”
These comments seem quite valid. Pitchers Kodai Senga, Tylor Megill, and Sean Manaea are currently on the injured list, with hopes of coming back in July. Losing multiple starting pitchers at once is certainly not ideal for success. Additionally, New York ranks 29th in the league for hitting with runners in scoring position, raising concerns as the season exceeds the halfway mark.
With the largest payroll in MLB, the Mets are expected to achieve great things. However, optimism still remains at the highest levels.
