Auburn Football Secures Tight End Commit to Start Fourth of July Weekend
Auburn Tigers football is adding excitement to their Fourth of July festivities with a new recruiting commitment. Three-star tight end Kentrell White announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he has decided to join the Tigers.
White, who had offers from several other power conference schools like Virginia Tech, Kansas State, and Pitt, chose Auburn for his college career.
According to 247Sports, White ranks as the No. 63 tight end in the nation and the No. 123 overall prospect from Georgia. This commitment comes as a much-needed boost to Auburn’s recruiting efforts, which had seen some setbacks. While they secured two commitments in late June, they also lost three, including two four-star recruits, during the same period.
White is Auburn’s first tight end commitment for the 2026 class, and his addition provides some much-needed depth after the program lost two wide receiver recruits. Four-star Devin Carter flipped to Florida State, his father’s alma mater, on June 23, while three-star Denairius Gray switched his commitment to Kentucky on July 1. The Tigers also saw linebacker Shadarius Toodle decommit during the same stretch.
While some Auburn fans may be disappointed with the three-star status, it’s a positive step for the program, especially considering the recent struggles on the recruiting trail. White’s decision to choose Auburn in the midst of what was shaping up to be a rough period for coach Hugh Freeze is a welcome sign.
In addition to football, White is a standout multi-sport athlete, having qualified for regionals twice in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Though he’s primarily being recruited as a tight end, he has also played snaps at wide receiver and defensive back.
With White’s commitment, Auburn’s 2026 recruiting class is now up to seven members, including two four-star recruits. Alongside White, the Tigers’ class features other offensive players like quarterback Peyton Falzone, running back Eric Perry, and offensive linemen Nikau Hepi and Parker Pritchett.
