Spartans Add Another Edge Rusher to 2026 Class
Michigan State has secured its 22nd commitment for the class of 2026, ending a brief lull in recruiting activity.
Chris Addison, a three-star edge rusher from the class of 2026, announced his commitment to the Spartans on social media Thursday night.
Addison chose Michigan State over offers from UCLA, Arizona State, Florida State, and Tulane. He visited East Lansing for an official visit the weekend of June 13.
Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 235 pounds, Addison plays for Franklin Parish High School in Winnsboro, Louisiana. He is ranked the No. 16 prospect in his state and the No. 52 edge rusher nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
247Sports’ scouting analyst Gabe Brooks gave his assessment of Addison last month:
“Addison is a versatile defensive end who can excel in a hybrid edge role or as a full-time four-point stance player. He’s also been a dynamic playmaker on offense with a 21.7 yards-per-catch average over three seasons.
“On defense, he’s been highly productive the past two seasons with 32 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks. While he often plays in a two-point stance, he’s legitimately over 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds with room to add more mass. Addison is a fluid and athletic mover with strong ball skills, even though his pass-rush moves are still developing.
“Though he could refine his hand technique, he shows power and strength in traffic, particularly against the run. His athleticism is also showcased in basketball and javelin throwing.
“His physical growth in a college strength and conditioning program will be crucial for his long-term position fit, but he has the potential to be a high-level contributor with significant upside.”
Addison’s commitment adds to Michigan State’s impressive 2026 class, marking the third edge rusher to join the fold, following Fameitau Siale and Cory House.
He was one of the last uncommitted targets for Michigan State in this recruiting class, adding another major win for the Spartans after a strong recruiting surge in June. Addison’s commitment is Michigan State’s first for the class of 2026 in July, following 17 new pledges in June.
