Kansas State Football Scores Big Recruiting Win with Three-Star Edge
Kansas State football added another promising recruit from Texas with the commitment of three-star edge rusher Tucker Ashford, according to 247 Sports.
The Wildcats have continued their strong recruiting efforts in the Lone Star State, securing Ashford from Fort Worth Christian High School.
“I want to thank God for all the opportunities He has given me,” Ashford wrote in his announcement. “With that being said, I am excited to announce my commitment to KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY!”
Ashford chose Kansas State over offers from Vanderbilt, Houston, and Illinois.
He becomes the 17th commit in the Wildcats’ 2026 class and the seventh recruit from Texas. Additionally, he’s the first edge rusher to join the class.
Ranked as the No. 61 edge rusher in the 2026 class and the No. 93 player in Texas, Ashford’s commitment was expected. When he initially set a commitment date for June 17, On3 Sports gave Kansas State a 91 percent chance of landing him. As the announcement approached, those odds increased to 97.8 percent, signaling a near-certainty that Ashford would pick the Wildcats.
With Ashford’s commitment, Kansas State’s recruiting ranking in the Big 12 (per 247 Sports) moved up from No. 10 to No. 9. Coach Chris Klieman and his staff will aim to climb even higher before the recruiting cycle concludes.
