Deshaun Watson’s Quarterback Coach Criticizes Deion Sanders
Quincy Avery, the quarterback coach for Cleveland Browns’ Deshaun Watson, has taken aim at Deion Sanders, head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes and father of Shedeur Sanders. Deion has been very involved in his son Shedeur’s career, but some have raised doubts about his approach.
During an appearance on the Maggie and Perloff Show, Avery questioned Deion’s motivations. He said, “At some point this year, it’s going to get really tough, and Deion Sanders is going to have to make a real decision. Was he doing this to help his son become a top-tier quarterback — which he did — or is he genuinely invested in the well-being of the kids?”
Avery’s comments add to the growing criticism of Deion. Some have accused him of being overly controlling, while others believe he’s using his platform to stay in the spotlight.
On the other hand, many fans commend Deion for being a hands-on father, guiding Shedeur through his college years and into the NFL Draft, where he was selected by the Browns.
There’s also speculation that Shedeur’s fall to the fifth round of the draft could be tied to teams not wanting to deal with Deion’s strong presence.
Ultimately, only Deion knows his true intentions. Until proven otherwise, he deserves the benefit of the doubt. The question now is whether Shedeur can prove the critics wrong in the years to come.
