Williams is coming off of a career year with the Lobos.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With the 2025 college football season fast approaching, Louisville is adding reinforcements to its secondary ahead of fall camp.

Former New Mexico cornerback Nigel Williams has announced his commitment to the Cardinals, according to his representation via 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Williams had been in the transfer portal since December.

Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 194 pounds, Williams is coming off the strongest season of his college career. He appeared in all 12 games for the Lobos last year, recording 58 total tackles (36 solo), two pass breakups, and one forced fumble.

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Williams began his collegiate journey at Northwestern in the Big Ten. However, he saw limited playing time there, logging just three tackles across three seasons—each of those coming in 2022.

Louisville wrapped up the 2024 season—its second under head coach Jeff Brohm—with a 9-4 record, highlighted by a thrilling 35-34 victory over Washington in the Sun Bowl. The Cardinals are set to begin Year 3 of the Brohm era on Saturday, Aug. 30, when they host Eastern Kentucky at L\&N Stadium.
